Commercial, personal and sensitive information is very hard to keep secure, and technological solutions are not the only answer. In today's technology-driven environment, there is an ever-increasing demand for information delivery on various devices in the office, at home and in public places. A compromise has to be struck between security of information and its availability. This book provides significant first steps along the path of dealing with information assurance in a realistic and comprehensive manner. The second edition has been expanded to include the security of cloud-based resources. The remainder of the contents have been reviewed and reordered to reflect the changes to the BCS Certification in Information Security Management Principles which the book supports."The security of personal information has never been of greater concern to the public. The BCS provides valuable leadership in this area and this is a timely contribution to a vital process" (Richard Thomas, Information Commissioner). (Review of previous edition)

Although the book is targeted at students taking the CISMP examination, I would still recommend this book for any IT professional wishing to understand more about information security. The language used in the book is very accessible, so I would also recommend it to any senior manager wishing to understand the basics. If you want an excellent introduction to information security you could do worse than buying a copy of this book. Highly recommended. --John Hughes InfoSec Skills

Excellent book - got me through the 'Certificate in Information Security Management Principles' exam (with a Distinction) 1st time, having read it just three times. To be fair, I had worked in a related field for 3 years and, as any student should, read around the subject using 2 or 3 other text books. However, the statement stands, that it very much does what it says on the tin in a fairly engaging way for a relatively dry subject!

This book was perfect for preparing me for the CISMP exam. Without any additional learning than reading the book I passed with distinction.

Planning on doing the course and this was recommended reading before hand. Having implemented a full ISM system at work i wanted to be sure i knew what i was talking about. Good book for those in the profession.

To the point and uses a great example throughout the book to explain and show how Info Sec Principles (ISO 27001) can and should be applied. Perfect book/size.

This book is a very good introduction to information security. It would be very useful for anyone who wants to learn the basic about the topic. I recommend it highly for non-information security managers.
